The Old Hospital is the oldest part of the structure of the Nursing Home in Cologno al Serio.
It is composed of three buildings going back to different periods, the oldest belonging to the medieval town walls.
The building was in severe disrepair and at risk of structural collapse.
In agreement with the Superintendency, the renovation project has preserved all existing masonry and noteworthy architectural elements, columns and vaults.
Roofs and floors, which were totally compromised, have been rebuilt with compatible techniques.
Clay cotto tiles have been completely reused.
This building will be used as an Integrated Day Centre, accessed by ten self-sufficient elderly people that use care services during the day and go back to their homes at night.
The centre is provided with a dining room, a room for occupational activities, a resting room.
The building is also linked to the Nursing Home through the underground floor in order to provide access to all other facilities, such as the kitchen, the washing room and the gym.
